FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT CENTRES

Tell me about it

Regular weekly one hour long football coaching sessions for children held at venues in Wolverhampton and  Dudley. Our coaches deliver high quality coaching sessions in a safe environment. The recommended ratio of players to coaches is not exceeded and children are coached within their own age bands. Strict rules of behaviour apply while, at the same time, children enjoy their skill work and small-sided games. Young players from different schools in their neighbourhood have the chance to meet each other and make new friends.

For the youngest boys and girls, the 4 to 7 year-olds, basic movement skills will be developed (Agility, Balance, Co-ordination and Speed) alongside basic dribbling, turning, passing, control, heading, shooting, running with the ball and goalkeeping skills, using a range of fun games and challenges.

For older players, the 8 to 12 year-olds, a continuing development of movement skills (Agility, Balance, Co-ordination and Speed) with a progression in skill activities and games. Discovery learning is used to improve players' knowledge. FUTSAL (small-sided football recognised and supported by FIFA, UEFA and The FA) will also be introduced at this stage to encourage skilful and creative play.

Who are the Coaches?

All Soccer Coaching 2000 coaches are screened through the Criminal Records Bureau (Enhanced Disclosure). They are full-time employees of our Company and work in local primary schools throughout the year. Coaches in charge of sessions have a minimum of the FA level 2 qualification as well as Child Protection and Emergency Aid Certificates plus various other relevant qualifications. In all situations coaching staff work in pairs and many assistant coaches also have the level 2 qualification, while others have the level 1 qualification.

Who is it for?

Girls and boys of all abilities who want to learn and practise football skills. Regular weekly coaching develops players, improves confidence and helps them to reach their potential. Children aged 4 to 12 years are able to register. See details on Football Development Centres below.

What is the cost?

£3.00 per session, only payable for each session attended. Registration is free. Attendance needs to be reasonably regular to keep a place in the session.

When do the coaching sessions take place?

Weekday evenings during term time. During school holidays weekly Football Development Centres take a break as Holiday Courses are offered instead. See details on Football Development Centres below.

Where do the coaching sessions take place?

All venues offer indoor facilities, some have top quality sports halls, and many have an option to play outside in the spring and summer. Football Development Centres below show all centres clearly listed with times, age groups etc.

First Visit

Registration is free but coaches will ask you to complete a Parental/Guardians consent form for each child on the first visit, so please arrive a few minutes early. For indoor sessions children should wear trainers and, outside on grass, boots can be worn, but it is not essential to buy them at the beginning. Shin pads are essential and, for your convenience, can be purchased from coaches for £4.50 per pair. Football socks are also available if required at £2.50.
